Bloomsburg Field Hockey Defeats Bryant

BLOOMSBURG -- The Bloomsburg University field hockey team continued its winning ways with a 4-0 win over Bryant University on Saturday. The win was the 26th straight for the Huskies dating back to last season.

Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) scored the first goal for the Huskies off an assist from Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) 10 minutes into the game. Two minutes later, Vanartsdalen scored to bring the Huskies to a 2-0 lead at the halftime.

With 15 minutes left to play, Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) scored off a Vanartsdalen assist. Maggey Bloskey (Danville/Danville) followed shortly after with an unassisted goal for the fourth and final score.

Bloomsburg goalie Allison Ziants (Winfield/Selinsgrove) saved two shots for the Huskies, including a diving save in the second half against Bryant's Kelly Frantz.

The Huskies, 2-0, will be back in action on Wednesday, September 5th hosting Slippery Rock at 4:00 p.m.
